Lecoultre - Reverso Questions

Postby taptaptap » Tue Jan 19, 2016 3:52 pm

Hi Everyone,

My name is Pat, I generally spend my time lurking in the military sections. I come looking for help with an old Reverso that is for sale. Currently I am playing a game of snog / marry / avoid.

I am new at this so please be patient with me. I have a heap of questions!

The the round dial I believe was introduced from 1935 onward and can come in variety of configurations.
Was this true the the Hour, Minute and Second hands too?
In 1937 the dials would be signed Jaegre-Lecoultre. Is this a hard and fast rule?
Would this be an mission impossible to correct the hands should they be non standard?
I only have a case back reference #17653 at the moment. I am awaiting a reply regarding more photos.
What reference/model is this watch?

Thanks you for taking the time to help me learn more about this Reverso, Any tips and insight are greatly received.

Regards
Patrik

Hi 17653 is the case serial #, not the reference number.

I have seen these hands before with luminous material painted directly on them, so they're not necessarily 'incorrect' though someone appears to have just painted them white.

Hi Zaf,

Thanks for your reply,

Can I conclude that all early central second reverso/non-reverso hand were of the same shape -- Sword(hour and minute) and Stick with "ballend"(second)?
If not, when/model did they change?

Have any catalogues survived the ages that can be used for comparrison?

Sadly the watch is no longer for sale. to slow.

Thanks again
Pat
