ANY INFO on this vintage JLC would be appreciated

Postby redhawk50 » Thu Sep 12, 2019 12:54 am

This watch actually belongs to an aging widow lady who is a dear friend. Being on Social Security she needs money much more than the watch, and has asked me to sell it for her. I know less than nothing about watches, so I'm trying to learn. I know most of the important info can be found inside the case. And after studying how these watches are presented and sold on ebay, it seems to be important that there be a photo of the inside (works?). So after cleaning around it, I carefully removed the back. I took photos of the inside of the back, which is included, IF I can figure out how to post photos.

But there is another cover inside. After seeing scratches where whoever serviced it had difficulty removing it, I didn't even try. It looks like there could be tiny pins at twelve o'clock and six o'clock, which would suggest a special tool may be needed to remove it. Photo of it does not show up in the preview. ???? Guess I don't know how to post more than one photo at a time.

Both of the local watch repair shops in our little town seem hesitant to do anything at all to it and the nearest JLC service center is about 300 miles away. So ANY info, help, tips, suggestions, etc. that any of you could provide would be greatly appreciated, as is your time.

Sincerely,
RedHawk50
(Joe A. Nesbitt)

PS the number on the back of the case is 299562 with an "A" above it.

I see none of the other photos are showing. Would someone please tell me how to post multiple photos at a time, so you can see this 1940's gem?

This is the dust cover I'd like to remove to see the works but don't know how.

Inside of back with JLC pine tree, 18K gold stamp, and what I assume is when it was serviced?

The watch dates to approximately 1945. 18k gold, perhaps movement caliber 480.
