European Futurematic with US case

Postby Vanclaw5 » Sun Mar 24, 2019 12:04 pm

Hi all,

I’m considering purchasing a steel JLC Futurematic, which by the JLC branding appears to be a European model. The concern I have is that the inside is the case back indicates that the watch was cases and timed in the USA. Would this suggest that the watch is a Franken or is it possible that a case/case back intended for the US market was used on a European model. Most of the stainless steel European models have screw backs whereas this one is a snap back. I also haven’t seen this lug design on other European models.

Also any comments re: the dial and whether it may have been refinished would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

That back does not belong on a European watch.

Thanks Zaf - the seller has listed the watch on eBay. Here is the listing:

It's a Frankenstein.
