Help Identifying Vintage LeCoultre 1930 Reverso

Postby le.gentleman » Sat Jan 12, 2019 2:12 pm

Dear ladies and gentlemen, I was wondering if you could help me find out more about this watch, as I am a bit confused.

1. I acquired this vintage 1930s reverso LeCoultre Watch in Stainless Steel.
2. I am not quite sure about the date. The movement serial indicates it is from 1931 but I thought LeCoultre did not have their own movements until later. Also if you look at the dial it has the 6 o'clock seconds and so far I found that people say this did not happen until 1934.
Ws this watch put together later?
3. You can also see the case number
4. In an upclose shot it looks like the dial was repainted. I have never seen this type of dial for a 1930s reverso anywhere else, have you?
Any information is appreciated.

Hi Zaf, I do not know why. I think it is the shortcode as the URLs work.

The dial is definitely repainted. I'm not sure iof that hands are original. The crown has been replaced.

The movement probably dates to 1933 at the earliest. The serial look up is +/- 2 years so it's within the margin for error.

Thanks Zaf, I appreciate it. If the serial number is plus minus 2 years that makes more sense because it seems like the 6'o clock seconds did not launch until 1934.

The repainting can be seen in the high res pic but when I wear it it is not noticeable.
I am having it services at the moment, and the case welded so it should be good to wear.

What did an original crown from the time look like?

Original crown is plain, slightly larger than what you have but it has no step. Yours has a small step. The knurls are finer, i.e. more of them that what is on it right now.
