Vintage JLC power reserve

Hello Friends,

I just picked up this watch last week in a trade. It did not cost me very much at all. I have been able to find out on my own after I received it that it is a Caliber 481 Ref E163. It is 37mm S.S.

I have read in the forum that about 100 of this type was made in 18k but I have seen very little on the S.S. models.

Also while the dial appears to be original it's pretty dirty and I'm sure what to do about.

Any advice and information is welcomed.

Thank you

Linwood

You do indeed have an E163. As far as I know the factory didn't know the exact production figure for this model. My guess is that it's less than 500 in total, steel and gold. So pretty rare.

Thank you Zaf,

You are considered an authority when it comes to JLC by everyone I know. An honor to have you comment.

Be well Sir,

Linwood

I'll try to nag them again for production figures. They say that many many of the factory records were discarded circa 1975 when the factory almost went bankrupt with increased competition from Japanese quartz watches. So that info may be buried somewhere, but I couldn't find it during my visit.

Guys,

I have been asked if I wish to sale my S.S. E163. It made me realize I don't even know the market value of the watch. Any ideas on the worth?

Thanks in advance
