JLC Memovox K855 Dial concerns?

Postby dougiedude » Sun Mar 18, 2018 5:28 pm

I'm considering purchasing this Memovox from a friend, and I noticed a few imperfections that I would love to have addressed as to whether these, or any other imperfections seen could indicate a cause for concern as to dial originality. I'll start with the dial pic with red arrows and circles in the spots where I'm concerned.

FWIW, I fully trust the seller. I've bought from him before, and he is just as interested as I am for information.

(Looks as though I may need to reply to my thread to get other, unmarked images of the dial posted)

The areas are:

1) '1' hour index not aligned between the minute markers. I noticed the lume dots are off in a few places (@1, 9) as well, but I think this could be a normal factory variant. Please correct me if I am wrong!

2) Inside edge of outer dial where it meets the inner disc has an area of 'gap'.

Thanks to this forum and to Zaf in advance for your help!

The dial looks original to me, but perhaps the lume markers were re-applied at some point? That wouldn't be unusual.

That looks like poor watchmaking to me, i.e. someone lifted the dial from there and damaged it.

OK, yes, unfortunate...

Thank you for your fine help!

Agreed, the lume plots can be fixed, but I'd just leave it like it is.
