1951, 1953, 1953, 1954, 1954, 1956

That is when they were produced as a movement, which could be cased later.

Here is an odd one (to me at least?). I just repaired a 497/1, with a serial that would put it before my 1953 serial above. I thought the 497/1 was a later revision, but apparently not! Weird.

Can someone please advise? My watchmaker is currently servicing my gold European Futurematic, and has asked me to obtain replacement 3rd and 4th wheels (parts 210 & 224) as the originals are rusty. When I looked on the Perrins Canada website, they show both parts in stock at reasonable prices - but in each case, they have separate listings to fit the cal. 497 and 497/1.

I tried to research the difference, but Wiki and various other websites only mention that JLC used these two movements, without describing the differences. And to add to my confusion, the movement pictured here in the previous post has 497 engraved on the rotor weight, but 497/1 below the balance-wheel.

Is there any difference in practice between these calibres, in relation to fitting these two components? And if so, how do I know which movement is in my watch - do I use the number near the balance-wheel, or the one on the rotor?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The parts in question should be the same between 497 or 497/1....maybe ask Perrin why they'd be different, but I expect them to be the same.

You're welcome; I have those as used parts if Perrin doesn't.
