Antique Pocket Watch

Hi All,

I have a pocket watch that belonged to either my great grand father or great great grand father. I have had the thing for 20 plus years but have never really learned anything about it. I am pretty sure it dates back to the late 1800's but If I could get a specific decade or year it would be awesome.

It has a black metal cover to hold the watch. The watch body is 14k gold and the front opens. Inside the front is a number "42" ehich also happens to be the last 2 digits of the serial number.

The back snaps open to expose another cover which when opened exposes the mechanism.

Can any one help me date this thing? Thanks!

I contacted LeCoultre and they will start researching the watch (for a fee). Any guesses as to the findings?

They said it would take 3 months!

Sorry I don't have any records of the older pocket watches --- so the factory is your best bet.
