Jaeger-LeCoultre 6B/159

Postby Hallibag » Tue Apr 14, 2015 3:07 pm

I was just wondering, does anyone know roughly how many non-Weems JLC 6B/159's with the Cal.450 movement were delivered to the Royal Air Force? I've heard there were four or five thousand with the Cal.470 movement but, despite much searching, I've been unable to find a similar number for watches with the 450. Thanks!

The factory does not have any records of the actual number of 6Bs delivered to the RAF.
The guesstimate you quote is from my book, it's for all 6Bs, not just 450/470.

Thanks for your reply, Zaf. I need to pick up a copy of your book! Now, I was just wondering, what other movements could be found in JLC 6Bs besides the cal. 450 and 470? Also, would you happen to know what the difference is between a cal. 450 and 450/1, and the 470 and 470/1?

The /1 /2 and so on indicates the first evolution second evolution, etc. of the movement. These differences can be very subtle.
