JLC Memovox Parking

Postby orestes » Sun Oct 10, 2021 7:56 am

Hi! I've come across a Memovox automatic with parking function, claimed to be original.
I have some doubts about this combination, I have only seen the parking dial on manual Memovox.
Has a parking version combined with the cal 825 ever existed?

Does it make sense to think that the parking dial is a later replacement, added in order to make the watch more valuable?Could it be a combination put together by the importer of that time?

Thank you for the help!

I have not been able to confirm or deny its existence. I think it's a later addition, but I have no definitive proof.

Hello Zaf and thank you very much for your authoritative opinion.

My suspicion was that the disc of another Memovox had been set on this watch, so I assumed that the parking dial was genuine.
I've been told that the parking dial is repainted, do you find elements which support that?

On the manual wind parking, the black arrows are much closer to the dial edge, and the print is sharper.

So yes, there is a good chance it's a refinish.

I think Zaf is correct. I've never heard of an automatic JLC Memovox with an original "parking" dial. But I suppose the insert would fit.

Not sure if this picture is detailed enough to show what Zaf meant by the marks being closer to the edge of the dial:

I only chose this image (my watch) because I know that the parking dial is original, due to the Gubelin logo.

Hope this helps,
