Jaeger-LeCoultre archives extract service
Just wondering, have any of you used JLC's archive extract service, in which they provide what information they have for an individual watch? If so, in your opinion, is it worth the 250 CHF fee they charge? The price seems quite steep but, depending on the information they provide, perhaps it could ...

1940 JLC Weems 6B/159
Hi, I have an opportunity to purchase this watch. It looks good to me, with a Cal. 450 movement in the expected serial range (118XXX) and matching midcase and caseback numbers. It has the wrong type of spring bars, but these should be easily replaced. Am I missing anything? http://i1131.photobucket....

Re: Movado 6B/159 serial numbers?
Thanks for your reply, Zaf. Nobody seems to undestand Movado's pre-1963 serial numbering system - not even Movado! I was in touch with them recently, hoping they might be able to provide some historical information about a watch, but they had nothing. In fact, my contact didn't even recognize their ...

Movado 6B/159 serial numbers?
Hi, It's my understanding that, prior to 1963, Movado wristwatches had six-digit serial numbers, that started with the movement caliber number and then counted up sequentially from there; i.e., the first Cal.150-powered watch would be 150001, the one thousand and first 151001, etc. Yet, I notice tha...

Re: LeCoultre Weems movement?
It took almost three months, but this movement just came back from overhaul. It's been stripped, cleaned, lubricated and all the missing or damaged parts replaced (finding the replacement parts was what took so long) and I even have a lead on a RAF Weems case for the movement to go into. Thanks agai...

Re: LeCoultre Weems movement?
Many thanks, Zaf. Now, one more question. It seems there are two different replacement "Centre Wheel and Cannon Pinion" sets available, one with a height of 1.90 mm and the other with a height of 2.25 mm. Both are for the Cal. 450. Would you happen to know which height would be correct for this move...
