Re: Jaeger LeCoultre Watch ID
The back lid could very well be original, Dennison made 9k cases for JLC for the UK market. It will not have a Swiss reference number as it's locally cased. The 449 is well regarded. The value is less than what JLC charge to restore it I'm afraid.

Re: Identification steel JLC
I would not buy that watch w/o seeing the insides of the back, and I probably wouldn't but it just because the dial is redone. Probably best to look for something else.

Re: Identification steel JLC
I'm not sure I like the looks of that watch, The dial has been refinished for sure, and most likely the hands have been replaced. Do you have a picture of the insides of the case back? I'm not convinced.

Re: Regulating a Patek Philippe Ellipse
Hi, just spoke to my watchmaker again, we can do a full service for $650 + return ship. We have to take a little more than our normal rate because the Gyromax balance is a pain in the ass! If interested you can go here:

Re: Regulating a Patek Philippe Ellipse
Watchmaker just replied: "That's a free sprung balance. The adjustments will have to be made on the balance itself." So I'm afraid there is no really cheap way out of this. It would not be a bad idea to service it to be honest since you don't know when it was last done, assuming you can get a reason...

Honestly, there are so many variants with that movement, it's difficult to order the part. You never know what you're going to get.
Where is the watch?

Re: Regulating a Patek Philippe Ellipse
OK, I just took a look at the movement (photo attached) and sent a message to my watchmaker regarding regulation. If all of the regulation needs to be done via the Gyromax screws then it's tricky! You can see the screws on the balance and you will have to turn each one individually to get good resul...

Re: Need Help before i get taken for a ride
It would be unusual, for a Swiss made watch, not to show what metal the case, and even what the buckle is made of. So look for Hallmarks and other stampings. So assuming it's 18k, I'd guess it's something worth about $700-1000. I don't think it's mainstream enough to get collectors' attention. Anoth...

Re: Regulating a Patek Philippe Ellipse
Do you happen to know what caliber movement it is, if not is it manual or automatic?
Pateks are tricky to regulate, esp. if the movement has a Gyromax balance.
