Re: What should I offer?
Hi Dave, I made an offer to your dad. So ... that's sort of a starting point? I understand the repair guys in the UK sort of botched it, and the hack arm is and retaining screw is now missing! It's a very rare part. Unbelievable! Anyway, your dad is all up to date on all this. I can fix it no proble...

Re: Date and Name of Vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre
It's 18k gold. Dial is just copper tone, I don't think it's 100% copper, but is probably a copper alloy that was then painted.
It dates to the 1950s most likely, I don't know the exact reference number, but they're just usually called a "ladies backset" due to the crown position on the back.

Re: Real or not, "luftwaffe" / "wehrmacht"
Hi, while it looks similar, it's not that model. The Luftwaffe model has a MUCH earlier movement serial number and the case is different. I'm not convinced what you are showing is a JLC case. How is stamped on the insides?

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Mark 11 site is open for business again
The site had become unmaintainable and it was very difficult to add new watches. After a long hiatus, and some programming magic, it's being updated again:

Re: serial numner of Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox
If it says "P" it indicates "Plaque" which is gold plate. 1400 E is too high in my opinion. It would be OK for a 14k or steel one.

What are the markings on the case back? Is that a number with a "P"?

Re: ID an 'unsual' watch/works
At some point, around 1930, Rolex & Gruen shared a same or similar movement for their "Doctor's" style watches, like the Rolex Price. If you google
"Rolex and Gruen" you'll come up with additional info.
